Dr. Xiong received his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Institute of Zoology at Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing. He then obtained his postdoctoral trainings on mouse developmental genetics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and on zebrafish developmental genetics at Harvard Medical School. He joined the faculty as an Instructor, then a tenure-track Assistant Professor and Head of Laboratory of Developmental Vascular Biology at Harvard Medical School from 2002 to 2009. Since 2008, he has been a Professor and Head of Laboratory of Cardiovascular Development and Regeneration at the Institute of Molecular Medicine. He was a recipient of the Research Scientist Development Award (K01) from the US National Institute of Health (2002), the Harvard University Milton Scholar (2008), and Bayer Investigator Scholar (2014). His lab is working on cardiovascular development and regeneration using zebrafish, mice, and rat models. His researches are funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and AstraZeneca-Innovation Center China.
